Praise the Lord for Dr. Itengré Ouedraogo’s
over 5 ½ years
of dedicated service to Danja as a resident fistula surgeon. Well over a 1000
women have benefitted from his surgical skills at DFC. May the Lord bless him
and his family as they begin a new work in their homeland of Burkina Faso
providing care for women suffering from fistula.
Praise the Lord for our first visiting surgical team of Dr.
Andrew Norman and his wife Judy, Dr. Holly Richter and Dr. Joe Malek. The team
was able to provide surgical repair for 14 women. Their visit coincided with
the celebration of Tabaski which allowed them the opportunity to see the rams
roasting over open fires all over Maradi. The team faced the challenge of a 36
hour power cut and a 16 hour water cut during their time at Danja. The lack of
water prevented them from performing surgery one day as they needed water to
scrub for surgery and wash their instruments. Everyone rejoiced when power was
restored and water flowed.
Praise the Lord for the reusable waterproof pads that nurse
Judy Norman made and brought for the DFC women who are not able to be repaired
and who remain incontinent. The gift of these pads are tangible evidence of the
compassionate care that women receive at DFC.
Despite great effort on the part of local technicians, the
generator has not been functioning since early August, pray that the expensive
piece recommended by the service technicians in Florida will arrive safely in
October with a missionary traveler and that the generator will be put back into
working order.
Praise for the return of our Physical Therapist, Michelle
Pieké. Shortly after her arrival she was pleased to have the opportunity to
assess the new patients along with the visiting surgeons in order to best plan
and provide for their needs for therapy.

We praise God that Dr. Itengre was able to extend his stay until August. Nevertheless...
1) Dr.
Itengre Ouedraogo, his wife Rasmata and their four children will be moving back
to Burkina Faso at the end of August. Pray that many patients needing surgery
will come in the weeks before his departure.
2)
Physical Therapist, Michelle Pieke has
completed her French studies and will be returning to serve as a physical therapist
at both CSL and DFC in late August. Pray for her final preparations before
leaving Canada and for a smooth re-adjustment back to life in Niger.
3) Pray
for the visiting team of Dr. Andy Norman his wife Judy, Dr. Holly Richter and
Dr. Joe Malek who will be arriving in late August to provide surgical care for

encouragement to them as they see lives impacted by their service.
